Layer by Layer

As quilts do, this project is coming together a bit at a time. I have a tendency to layer with other parphenalia, such as fabric, beads, and in this case stones.

The beauty of these beads is that they are made of real stones. I will list them when I am finished. There is real pumice shaped into round beads! I am very excited to find them and even more to incorporate them into a quilt about earth's layers. These stone beads won't go on until the fabric has been quilted... it is really difficult to machine quilt over stones (or beads), and of course this knowledge has come hard-earned as usual :-)

  1. This is awesome. You should get an earth science teacher to let you show it in class! I am seeing layers, fault lines, volcano, magma...Loving it.

  4. Your quilts are absolutely beautiful. I love the colors. And what a unique way to use inchies! The pic of your dog in the snow and your dog is adorable. I enjoyed your blog very much! :)

  5. This quilt is wonderful! The stones are going to be really great on it. I can't wait to see it complete! I've enjoyed connecting with a fellow quilter during this AEDM. I'm putting you in my favorites right now, so that I don't forget to check back after the month ends. I want to be sure to see the quilt completed and "stoned". ;)
